Character Matters: Part 1

Developing a Culture of Sending

Developing a Culture of Sending in Your Church

From the very beginning, our Father God has been on a mission. He desires to gather the nations to Himself. The Book of Revelations gives us a small glimpse into the consummation of His heart and His plan—when humanity from every tongue, tribe, nation, and people stands before Him. Jesus identified Himself as the Sent One and revealed the Father as the Sender when He spoke of the “Father who sent Me.”  The activity of the Holy Spirit in the Church is directing and commissioning God’s people in the mission of God in the earth.

“Mission is understood as being derived from the very nature of God. It is thus put in the context of the doctrine of the Trinity, not of ecclesiology or soteriology. The classical doctrine of missio dei as God the Father sending the Son, and God the Father and the Son sending the Spirit is expanded to include yet another ‘movement’: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit sending the Church into the world.”

―David Bosh

One of the major obstacles we face today is connecting our people with the mission of God in the earth. I believe that the Holy Spirit works to turn us outward in our thinking and that one of the chief responsibilities we have as ministers of the Gospel is to turn people outward in their thinking to carry the Gospel of Christ into their world.

A Sending Church is a New Testament Church. We see the Holy Spirit’s sending believers throughout the Book of Acts. In this short video, Pastor J.D. Greear shares how God worked in his heart and in the Summit Church to turn them into one of the greatest examples today of a Sending Church.

This Gospel that we preach has the power to transform communities. The following two great resources will inspire your global vision and transform your church so as to impact your community.

July 2017

As you read this month’s report, you will see the acceleration of ministry taking place around the world. Now we are in the middle of our most active months for Leadership Summits, teams, and outreaches taking place throughout the FCF family. Below are just a few of the reports we are sharing with you.

I just returned from the Dominican Republic, and in just a few short days Bob and I will travel to Europe and Africa for three months of ministry. We start in the Ukraine and then travel on to Africa where we will minister in seven Leadership Summits and five smaller relational gatherings.

The theme this year for the Leadership Summits is “The Gospel” and “the Believer’s Ministry.”
